It is an up in smoke that your grandmother would like.

I am still
smiling at this movie. Do you ever sit around thinking that old
people use pot on a regular basis? How about your prim and
proper aunt Martha? You know the one that sniffs and kind of
looks at you strange if you even let it out that you got drunk the
weekend before? Well that is what this movie is all
about.
I won't be spoiling anything if i tell you that it is
about an English woman on the far side of middle age who is left alone
and in debt at the death of her husband. In an effort to save
herself and her house from the auction block she starts a grow
operation in her greenhouse. Finally putting into practice the
years of experience she has had at getting the most difficult of
orchids to grow she starts to grow grass like it was, well,
grass.
This movie is an almost artful look at a
progression of the absurd. It is an up in smoke that your
grandmother would like. And the actors... they have done
just a remarkable job. You have no choice but to love this aunt martha
that is breaking the law and loving it. And talk about charming,
Craig Ferguson makes you want to hire his incompetent gardening skills
for your own garden.
This movie is cute and funny and
totally endearing. I have given it a limpid

Scary movie...is dumb. silly. stupid. and idiotic. and a bit of
fun. if you are in a silly, stupid, dumb sort of mood with a hankering
for low brow humour, you might like it. There is not a lot to
it, every jokes is either simple and coarse it is that and it spoofs
another film a the same time. I lost track of the number of
movies that it made fun of but rest assured that if you have watched a
lot of the big scary movies of the last five years then you will be
able to appreciate this movie.
Then again, if you want
even a modicum of intelligence in your movie, don't go to this.
i mean a lot of the jokes specialized in being low brow, offensive to
one specific group or another humour that you have to be in the right
mood to enjoy.
I guess, i would have to say that i went
to this expecting a bad movie, but you know i laughed just a little
too much to admit to anyone that this was a bad movie.
Really. But i can't, in good conscience admit it is a good
movie.
If you liked scream, and i know what
you did last summer, and something about mary then you
likely will like this movie, in spite of the only sometime clever
writing and bad production values. I have given it a rating of half-tepid.

Remember not all that long
ago when i reviewed the first of these movies and said that it did
have a few things going for it. Well make no mistake, that
was then, this is now. The first movie spoofed a number of other
films and tried as hard as it could to make you laugh through
slapstick and other methods. And more often than not, it
accomplished its task. This one, however, did nothing of the
sort. I can count the number of times i laughed on one hand and
yes, they were the same times i laughed in the commercials.
In fact i found that more often or not, something i had laughed at in
a trailer, when accompanied by its build up and background became less
funny. In short there were a hundred or so occasions where i
figured they wanted me to laugh but i just couldn't. Not in good
faith as a person with a sense of humour anyways.
There were so many flaws with this movie that it is almost ridiculous
to recant them. Don't get me wrong, i didn't walk into this
movie with a high minded notion of what a great movie and compared
this movie to it. In fact i tried very hard to check my brain at the
door. But it was to no avail, even the remaining remnants were
enough to see all the flaws in this movie. The premise itself
was just dumb, the characters and the characterizations were a
loss. Production values? Can i have their address so i can
send them a definition of productions values?
In fact my time watching this movie, and the writing of
this review, pretty much a loss as well. So here i will cut my
losses, i have been scared enough for one evening. I have given
this movie a half-vapid.

If ever there was a heist movie done to perfection, this might be it.

What they say
about this movie is pretty much true. There really isn't
anything new or original in it. You have seen most of it before
in one incarnation or another. But does that really
matter? We all watch Law & Order pretty much endlessly on
A&E, same sort of thing, each week, don't we? The reason we
do that is because there are endless variations on the same theme that
can be interesting and if it is done well, it is done well and worth
watching. This movie had that going for it in
spades.
A simple plot rundown goes like this, wise old thief
wants out of business, crazy old fence talks him into one last job
with young whippersnapper, job is risky, they do it anyway. Kind
of the same old hat. But it was a nice hat.
This was a good movie. The script was well done,
with interesting dialogue and characters. In fact, i was very fond of
the characterizations and the growth that we are allowed to
witness. Technically, shot quite well, effects and etc done
quite nicely. The acting, was just tremendous. I tell you,
Brando was as good as he has ever been, De Niro is still the master
and Edward Norton is like a shining star that can do no wrong.
He is a master of his craft at a very young age i would say. And
the extras also put in a good job. I don't know how they do it
so well but De Niro always seems to have the best henchman. Both
his bruiser and his geek were quite well done.
I would say that anyone could see this movie and enjoy
it. But if you like heist films, i am sure you will love
it. I have given this movie a rating of limpid.

Wow. So i
saw the trailers, i thought this was going to suck very hard.
The trailers were just shit, but being the movie slut that i am and it
being Samuel as it was, i had to go. And then it was good. It
was a good movie, i enjoyed it, it was fun. How's them
apples? It is very seldom that i watch a movie that has
bad trailers that is good. More often it is movies with good trailers
that suck.
Plot? Well this movie is all about
plot. It is, a simple plot, but it is not a simplistic plot.
there is enough complexity for you to know it is not formula.
However, it may have been an episode of Law and Order. But see,
that's just it, Law and Order is good. Acting. Samuel, was
mean, and caring, and good, he was just BAD...i loved him. The
others...they weren't too bad either.
I did have one
interesting point. The original shaft was all about African-Americans
being put down and being seen from the point of view of
injustice. Is this what they were doing here? Not
really. I am unsure as to whether they were changing the focal
point of the underbelly of society to the Hispanic community and
elevating the African-Americans, or trying to show that everything in
all communities is dynamic and interwoven. Hard to say.
Maybe they were just trying to depict reality, and who am i to say
that is not how it is.
In the end i would say
that this movie, had a lot of violence, an awful lot, and a lot of
English that is very close to not being English. But if you like that,
then you will like this movie. It was a simple thing to give it
a half-limpid.
And in all fairness, i might have given it higher, if i
have trouble giving this type of movie higher than this because there
is only limited message of worth in a movie such as this.

Do you like Jackie
Chan? No? Then go away there is no chance that you
will like this movie, there is nothing he did in this movie that he
has not explored before, no new concepts, no new characters, nothing
like that. So don't go expecting this to be the breakthrough
movie where you can all of a sudden understand his art.
That said,
if you like Jackie Chan it is will all confidence that i say that you
are going to like this movie. Basically, an imperial
Chinese princes gets kidnapped and they send three imperial guards to
go and rescue them. And a baggage man. The baggage man is
supposed to be bungling, even though we don't see any evidence of
that, because, of course, the bungler is Jackie Chan himself. He
proceeds to wander through the west, misunderstanding things foreign
to himself and meeting up with a bandit who agrees to show him the
ropes.
This movie works fairly well for what it is. The fight
scenes are signature Jackie, whimsical and somehow never all that
violent seeming. Filled with incredible acrobatics and ingenious
use of native props (given the presence of native americans in this
film maybe i should qualify that with, stuff around him). The
jokes are, for the most part, at least good hearted groan funny.
Lucy...does ok with the part given her and the villain, well, he is
just hot. (if you go for guys that is).
Of course, go into
this film expecting certain things, like a story that could use work,
dialogue that lacks intelligence and characterization being a laudable
but unavailable concept. But you aren't supposed to find that in
a movie like this are you?
This movie was a treat to watch, a fun
time was had by all. I think if you like Jackie, or good, light
hearted violent films, you will like this film as well. I have
given it a half-limpid.

As you might
expect this is a movie about showering, and bathing. Go figure
with that title. However it is so much more than that.
This was not a movie about bathing, it was a movie about how bathing
is such an integral and important part of the Chinese tradition and
culture. Its plot centers around a business man who has come
home to visit his family. The family business is running a
traditional bathhouse.
One of the most
amazing things that this movie does is start in a shower booth that
you feed coins into to have a shower on your way to work.
Throughout the movie you keep this one time image in your mind as you
realize what the new world can and does mean to the old world.
You can see how much these people have made the bathhouse a part of
their lives and their existence.
This movie
was a wonder for its acting, its writing and its portrayal. I
sat stunned throughout most of it. Although at one point when a
dreamlike sequence is entered i was stunned because of the way that
they handled it. Totally out of the blue and unexplained.
I don't know if i have seen a movie where a mentally challenged person
is depicted as a real person so well. Not a reason for pity, not
someone to be scared or disgusted by but rather as a person, a person
with a bit of trouble that they have to fit into their
life.
This movie made me care about the
characters and even the building in which it was set. This is

Offbeat, of center, off kilter. Nothing like Woody to make a

After having said that, on

for me, they just aren't funny enough. i think that this could have
been Woody funnier, or funnier Woody, or something like that. I
didn't laugh as often as they expected me to, or did i have a reason

This movie is about a group of not very
bright people who open a cookie shop as a cover to break into a
bank. Along they way they get rich and then try to break into
society. Places, Mr. Allen doesn't belong, society. Ah

What a rough
and tumble ride through the streets of Harlem this movie would have
been, you know, if it had been sent in Harlem. In fact it was
set in England, something that is readily determined by the way that
everyone has a British accent. This movie is nothing if not
violent. And it is nothing else if not funny. You know if
you are willing to laugh at the absurd, the ironic and the misfortunes
of others. Of course i am. I am more than willing to do
this.
This movie is a hoot. It is funny, incredibly
funny. And it is filled with all manner of action and
intrigues. For the record Brad Pitt is playing an Irish Gypsy in
this film. And while i don't know if his accent is good, i am
told by an Irish friend that it is done well enough. And if you
have seen the ad i am here to tell you that he is actually saying
something there. I didn't have a clue what it was until i saw it
in context in the movie but he was saying something. He really
was. That is a thrill all in itself to be able to get from that ad to
knowing what he says. Although one might wonder how the home of
the English language allows such thick accents within it.
Once question i might have is just what anyone would want to do with
that 86 carat diamond that they are all after in this movie.
Know what i mean? This thing is huge. About the only place/
i could see mounting it would be the end of a staff or a, um, nope
that's it. Once question you might have about this movie would be as
to query whether this was the same movie that Lock Stock and Two
Smoking Barrels was. And in my mind, no. You see i found
Lock to be a poorly crafted movie that lost my interest halfway
through and this one not only kept it, it soared with it. So
even if it is a remake it is a remake that was done rather well.
Maybe some day it will be known as a character piece.
Every single character in it is infused with his unique idiosyncrasies.
That part is a given.
I found this film to be a lot of
fun and a great ride. I would certainly recommend you go and see
it. However you should be aware that it would be very difficult
to find a movie that is more violent. And if you were hoping for

The plot for
this movie has to be pretty obvious to most by now. These four
old guys used to be in the space program but never made it into outer
space, a chance comes around because one of them knows some stuff
about a satellite that no one else knows. Up they go. The
movie...is them getting there. Simple you know.
So the plot is a little see through, perhaps, and perhaps
slightly far fetched. But not too much and it is good.
Yeah, you heard me, it, it is good. It is sweet, and family
centered, it will warm your heart and make you feel good to be, well,
a person who grew up on American cinema. But you know what, this
is not a movie that will make you choke on the pro-american-ness of
it. Sure it is gung-ho and courageous, but you get the
idea that it really could have been anyone who did it for any old
country.
So the writing was pretty good the production was damn
good. This was just a cute movie that is really fun to
watch. I would recommend you find your dad, or your uncle, or

into this movie is like having yourself dropped into small town
america. I don't know if this is going to be good for you or
bad. To some the idea of small time america is quaint and they
would pay any amount of money to spend their entire life their.
To drop into the world and lives of Andy Griffiths as it were.
To myself on the other hand, i don't think that this is a good idea at
all. I like the city, i want to stay in the city, i often find myself
considering moving back to the city. This movie on
the other hand isn't about how good small town america is, or how bad
movie-town america is. Rather it seems just to want to highlight
the differences.
You will find yourself laughing at both sides of the
equation. There are so many idots on both ends. But trust
me on this one, you will be laughing, and you will be laughing a
lot. Because it is funny. It is cute
funny. I laughed much more than i thought i was
going to. And i mean the only bad performances seemed to be from
Alec Baldwin and Sarah Jessica Parker, and both of them were playing
hoity-toity stars. It seemed to very much fit that they were
kind of vapid fools.
The characters in this film
were well done and really cool to watch. Some had depth and multiple
levels. Some of them were only there to shout out important
lines that would allow the main characters to play off of them.
In the end the joy and rapture of a great movie won't be found here.
but you know what will, an intelligent and amusing movie that is more
cute than anything else. You will smile, laugh and enjoy

Heartfelt, endearing, sad and
moving. These words all work for this movie, because it is all
of those things. It is. It is so that.
The story in a nutshell? Alvin is an old man, he is crippled,
or rather functionally disabled and has to move about on two
crutches. He also can't see well enough to drive. His
brother is heard to have had a stroke and he decides that he shall go
and see him. He decides to do this on a lawnmower. Simple
enough, he is going to drive a lawnmower down the highway from one
state to the next.
If you are the type of person who cries at movies...you almost
certainly will at this. The courage and stubborn nerve of this
man...is rather incredible to behold. and it is based upon a
true story. You should watch it just for that.
All that said, all praise given...he started to lose me a few
times. you know, when he was relating his stories from the far
past i found myself drifting. I think it is just or was just me, but i
found myself not really caring all that much. i just wanted the short
story to end, for him to stop talking already. I think this is a
bad thing, but it is still an honest appraisal.
In the end. I really enjoyed it and you should go and see it.

This movie is a
story. I think that this simple statement encompasses just about
all that needs to be said about it. But since you are likely to
want more than that...This movie follows the story of a Jewish family
that comes to Budapest in the 1800's through 5 generations until the
fall of communist rule in Hungary in the 1980's. It is an
incredible story, made even more so by the fact that it is based upon
truth.
It is not about hero's or great men, or things like that, it
is about a family and the way that they survived through time.
Rather it is a great story about troubled and good times.
There are many fine performances in this movie but the most stellar is
that of Ralph Fiennes. As a treat, Ralph Fiennes, plays four
consecutive characters each the son of the last. This is rather
amazing. Because he plays each character as a different person
and you can tell. They are different people (although, the
changing hair styles really does help). Not surprising in the
least, when William Hurt appears in the last lifespan, he also puts in
a wonderful performance.
Epic. This film is without doubt an

This movie was
one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. It was
stacked with actors that i like (ok, ok, that's not fair, i think
there were only three actors that i even recognized). It had a
story line that i felt could really go places. One that was
genuinely unique and new and different. Pierce was going to be
playing an inverted mirror copy of the 007 character he has breathed
new life into. Someone nasty and conniving. Geoffrey was
going to finally play someone who wasn't insane.
Be these factors as they may, it didn't happen.
What did happen was as strangely muddled movie. One where the
actors did a good job, and by this i mean a very good job, Pierce was
seriously creepy in his new character, but that the story was so
mangled in the writing, or the editing, or something such that the
movie just couldn't be good. All of the major points seemed to
be there, but they just didn't carry through, or off, or some
such.
I guess that you could say i enjoyed watching this
movie. There were some good parts. The opening where Rush
draws out a suit jacket to be cut was just amazing. Jamie Lee
Curtis, who only seems to be in this movie for the couple of times
that you see her breasts, well, sported some very nice breasts. But it
was the layers of disappointment that brought it back down. The
story needed some heavy duty work, the ending a major overhaul
and...and...the seven or eight scenes that actually were quite
critical need to go back in.
I would really recommend not seeing this film, unless you
have nothing better to do with your time. Or unless you want to
see some creeped out scenes of Pierce Brosnan being an absolute
cad. I have given this film a half-tepid.

Steve is a
creep. There is nothing about him that does not make you think
that he is not a creep. Unless, i guess, you are like
Steve. Steve has one object in life, to play women and to
conquer them. So this is said and believed by me. And now
i must also that say that he is a very charming fellow. You
can't help but to like him.
This movie
isn't just about us watching the exploits of a man who can get any
woman that he wants. About his getting women in spite of the
fact that he is no longer very attractive. It is about his not
getting the one woman that he wants. The one that he wants,
mostly, and yes this is a bit cliché, but the one that doesn't want
him. Wait a second, am i just now seeing this? Was it
always obvious that the man who could have any woman would want the
one that he could not have? Of course it was. But this
does not mean that it couldn't be done in a fresh and interesting
way.
For here it is. I don't think i have
ever seen a set of rules for picking up women that was as dead on
accurate and yet so incredibly tough to use as what has been termed
here as the 'Tao of Steve.' He has this set of rules and
attempts to translate them into easy to use English for a young acolyte.
I am still not sure if i would have rather this be the main text of
the movie instead of the subplot. At times the romance end
seemed just slightly cloying and annoying. In the end...i wasn't
really rooting for the success of Steve and yet i didn't see that as
mattering all that much in his empty life.

This movie is truly something
special. Let me set it up. First off, the movie
itself has four separate screens on your big screen all moving at all
times. Each one is a real time digital camera that is following
one of the characters or one of the areas. The movie itself is
improvised, they characters have been given some basic outline points
and then they proceed to just shoot an hour and a half of their
lives. You get to figure this all out by watching all 4 screens
simultaneously through the length of the movie. The one
concession they make towards the difficulty that we might have it is
to suppress much of the sound in three of the frames when the most
important story point is happening in one of them.
Sound confusing? i guess you could call it that. For a
while, until i got used to this movie, i had to really concentrate,
but once i got the hang of it i had no problem and they help you out
as much as they can, really not too bad at all.
This was good. This was very good. Not only was it one
of the most interesting projects in movie making that i have seen i
enjoyed the story. The actors did a great job, i really couldn't
tell that they weren't working off some big set of lines. The
characterizations were real, in that surreal because they were Hollywood
people sort of way. The dialogue was interesting. The story,
practically riveting. Throughout the movie they would have
earthquake aftershocks, i don't know if the actors knew they were
coming, i couldn't tell.
You might think that with this sort of think, getting the stories
to come to a firm and certifiable resolution would be difficult, only
it wasn't. It wasn't forced, it was fun.
I liked this movie, i really did. It spurred more
conversation than most movies that i walk out of. I enjoyed
it. If you are someone who never seems to get what is going in a

If anything what this movie showed me was that mainstream animation
could be aimed at adults and
done not too badly
On IMDb

Not too bad. Is that a
kind thing to say about a movie you have just watched?
Hmmm? I didn't really think so, and yet, that is what i thought
as i watched this movie. But the issue that i hit when watching
it was what i was supposed to be watching for, judging for. I
mean, it was an animated film, should i treat it like Disney crap,
should i treat it like art animation, like, American
Pop, or should i treat it like a normal movie?
Simple plot on this movie? I guess it is fairly formulaic if
you are a science fiction fan. And since there is no real way
for you to enjoy it if you are not a science fiction fan, then you
should be able to relate. But given the amount that sci-fi fans
liked star trek, i would guess that formulaic is ok with most of
you. Basically, evil energy based aliens destroy the earth,
attempt to annihilate the human species. Ironically there
is a device created by humans that can be used to beat them, only they
couldn't use it then. For some unknown reasons.
What did i think? Ok, i enjoyed it as a cartoon. As a
cartoon aimed at adults it does pretty darn good. And that is a
good thing, in my eyes. As a movie? Well, there are 50 or
so fairly large holes in the story, the characters...are not so well
acted. But they are interestingly characterized, that is
something. Except for the performance by Drew Barrymore.
Talk about stinking. Mechanical...it's not like she was enacting
a piece of art...oh wait...
That said, the animation here was incredible. Only the people
were done by hand, everything else was computerized. And done
well, meshed together great. A treat to watch.
In the end i gave this movie a tepid.
But it certainly is not a film for everyone.
A surreal journey
through a Shakespearean drama i can honestly say that i had not had
the pleasure of interacting with before i saw this
representation. Titus Andronicus is probably one of his most
vulgar and racist plays. One of the people i walked out with had
only one immediate description for the movie, 'disturbing.' She
did like it, but there are some disturbing parts.
But, that aside, or that accepted, it is a
marvelous interpretation. I spent most of the story in
awe, marveling at the way it was being presented. I will not say it is
one of his best plays, but this movie was made in such a way that i
sat there, almost perched on the end of my seat (and for 162 minutes)
for the entire length. The story, of course, is Shakespeare, but
that is not the point of enjoyment, it is the ride, the surreal,
tremendous roller coaster of the experience.
If you are a Shakespeare traditionalist then you might not like
this so much. But what would a Shakespeare traditionalist be
doing reading my movie review? Honestly i think this picture is
amazing, i give it a half
-
turgid.
Which is the second highest rating you can get.

There were parts
of this movie that were a pleasure to watch, that kept you on the edge
of your seat and your eyes filled with glee. These were the
parts in which Angelina Jolie was demonstrating that she was more than
qualified to be an action film star. Watching her dive through
the air, summersault beyond reason and shoot what she needed to shoot
with her first shot was indeed a pleasure.
This movie was an attempt to bring to life the main
character of the Tomb Raider video game and for the most part i would
tend to agree that they have accomplished this. The two things i
might have requested from this process though were that they add some
dimensions to the flat video game bombshell and that they take a video
game storyline and expand and develop it into some sort of story that
i would be interested in seeing. I am afraid they either didn't
attempt, really, to accomplish these two things or they just
failed.
While the story for this movie was relatively new and
unique, it just wasn't all that interesting. Nor did it seem to
follow any necessary pattern of movement. We would be going along,
jumping from point to point when out of the blue something extremely
important would pop out of the past with no explanation.
Something out of the blue that neither made me care nor made me
particularly want the next plot point to come along.
As a character, Laura Croft was nothing if not
shallow. Now don't get me wrong, they did try as hard as they
could to make her mysterious and deep, but what they accomplished was
an approaching silly character that did almost everything without
discernable and believable motivation. A character that you know
nothing about to provide depth but are supposed to believe brooding
silences are supposed to get us there.
The action sequences were a true treat, completely awe
inspiring. Both the direction and the performance of them were
almost without par. I think that if you are into seeing some
action this summer that this wouldn't be that bad a choice. And
after all, you get to see an hour and a half of Jolie walking around
with breasts greater than their normal size. I have given this
movie a half-limpid.

I loved this
movie. You might not. Many might not. In fact,
i think that the subset of people that get this movie will not be very
large.
Essential Top of the Food Chain is an intelligent and witty spoof
of the aliens cam eto earth and ate my brain B-movie. I suppose
if you are the wrong type of person you will never have seen this kind
of movie. If you are a certain type, you will hate this type of
movie. You go stand in the corner. The rest of you, keep
reading.
This movie couldn't stop me from laughing. It kept me
guffawing from one scene to the next with practiced ease. It was
amazing how subtle some of the jokes were. You would hear a line that
was said and your brain would interpret it one way, the normal way,
and then you would shake your head and have no choice but to
grin. They had done it again, they had snuck in another joke
while you weren't looking.
Honestly, i couldn't stop from laughing out loud and obnoxiously
throughout the movie. I am sure that if everyone on the theatre was
not doing the same thing, that they would have been turning to shush
me.
Sure the production was not big budget, but you couldn't really
tell and given that you expected some poor quality stuff from a
B-movie, i was very impressed. Oddly enough, the most
ironic part might be that it is a great movie, just crawling with
Canadian character and personality and they had to set it in the
states to explain the levels of ineptitude.

Is it fair to
walk out of a good movie and ask why it couldn't have been
better? I mean is that a little unfair? I guess it might
be, but as this movie was leaving the gates and becoming a new and
real movie was thinking that it was going to be the next big and
meaningful film. And it was all of those things, i guess.
But there was just a little something lacking, a little nit or
something that was keeping it away from being the movie that i wanted
it to be.
The stories in this film are well written and well put
together. It is very interesting how they come together to integrate
so that in the three separate drug threads in this film we still end
up getting a flow and continuity. The direction of putting them
together as one film was done incredibly well. Although i might
take issue with the fact that the Mexican portion of it was filmed in
sepia tone and not one of the others, cause you know that things down
there aren't quite as real as up there. They are just that much
dirtier. But aside from that masterfully done. Mr.
Soderbergh has done a very commendable job.
On the other hand it doesn't take us too long to come
across the fatal flaw that kept this film from amazing me. No
one, not one actor, did great job. No one, that i can
think of did a stand out horrible job either, but you know, not one
actor in this film indicated to me that they were deserving of
anything. Michael Douglas is being touted for an Oscar nod for
the movie and he might very well have turned in the most lacklustre of
all the performances. This is, after all really quite the movie with
great roles and writing and they just couldn't do that well at
it.
It wasn't very difficult for me to enjoy this film.
After all there were so many good things about it, and as such it is
getting a limpid.
i just wish that they had managed to do more with the
actors that were in it.
