Stuff On Top

Do you have any crayons?
Yeah?
Good, can you pick out the right one and colour me content?

Go ahead, you can say, ‘huh’ now if you like.

Mentioned before that there was a girl right?
Well, I just spent the weekend with her.

I don’t know if I have given you any background on this girl.

I have known her for a couple of years, during which time we had become good friends.  It was only recently, however, that I realized that there was more to my feelings for her than just friendship.
So after a rather tense moment that was initiated by my valentine’s entry and an offhanded reference to her that she caught, we discovered that there was indeed mutual interest.  After a couple of very pleasant weeks of almost endless conversations, we finally found a chance to spend some time together.  For the first time as more than just friends.

You see for all her good points, there is just one little  problem associated with her.  She lives on Vancouver Island.  Once again, i have fallen for someone who does not live in the same city that i do.  You know, in a world of every decreasing distances, with cell phones, computers, pagers and videoconferencing there are some things are just necessary to have in person.  Like a pair of beautiful deep eyes to stare into, a warm soft body to put your arms around or a smile to see going along with a laugh.

So saturday she came over in the early afternoon.  I was meeting her at the bus station and we were going to have a couple of days together.  The plans...we cavorted around granville island, finding out that we loved some of the same stores, things, gizmos, gadgets and what-che-meh-call-its.  Then we came back to my apt where i made a nice candlelit dinner.
Heh, i say nice.  I mean, the appetizers, a bruschetta of scallops, red peppers and gruyere were very nice. (very nice, i say, but i am starting to drool again now).  The beef rolls stuffed with shitake mushrooms, asiago cheese, red pepper and fresh basis with a beef raspberry reduction sauce were pretty nice.  The steamed asparagus was nice.  However, the toasted sunflower couscous had the consistency of gooey mashed potatoes.  The flavour was ok, it just looked and felt entirely not like couscous.  Ah well.
It had to be ok, because the lemon cheesecake with chocolate accents wasn't eaten at all.  At least until today.  We just had no room last night.
After dinner we went for a walk along the seawall, ending up at theatresports.

You know what i miss the most when i dont' have anyone?  Cuddling, contact, touch, smiling, talking, chatting, companionable silences, warm, friendly glances, knowing looks.  You know what i had a day filled with yesterday?  All, of the above.

Today was more of the same. Or less, or more.  Or less.  We meant to leave the apt nice and early for brunch.  We did, we really did.  But, just, holding each other became far far too important.  (yeah? is it sickening? well shut up you.)
We wandered the streets, shopping, cavorting some more, buying some things.  I tell you, i got the coolest set of keys known to man.  Purely decorative mind you.  But they are beautiful.  We walked, we talked, we didnt' talk, we came home and had cheesecake (finally).

So she left, eventually.  Sadness. But i had a weekend to remember, filled with all sorts of pleasant memories.  Have you never known a kiss that could make you toes tingle?

I'm tired now. I'll talk more about it later.
